Comments and additional info:

The Redneck Mutant Buell frame project has enjoyed a good deal of popularity for the past few years due to the relatively low cost realized through use of donor Buell parts and the simplicity of the rigid frame.  Gary Wojcik President of Big Wheels Turning of in Ithaca, NY was attracted by its possibilities as well when he embarked on this project.  His people even got half way through the build before they did what all their friends were already aware would happen.  They couldn’t simply leave well enough alone.

First the frame was altered for additional ground clearance then de-raked a couple of degrees and while they were at it changed the down tubes and rail jointery to have a more organic flow as well as accommodate the rear turn signals.  Now that the frame had a lot more curve the tank would have to follow suit.  With several deep drawn tank blanks gathering dust in the shop BWT was able to fabricate a unit that accentuated the already flowing lines of the altered frame.  Motor work turned out to be unnecessary as the X1 Buell power plant had all one could ask for in the performance department.  The leather hand stitched seat actually rides on a slide with a small air pillow to allow for some added comfort when confronted with the inevitable bumps in the road.  The blend of sportbike and chopper elements suggested bright primary color and racing stripes when making decisions about the paint scheme.

When all was said and done a simple build that was going to take a few weeks evolved into a project spanning several months with the final result well worth the time spent.
